| The Industrial PC concept has a new orientation. Operating
and display elements are detached from the computer. The computer
is housed in a control cabinet. This approach provides great
freedom, and this is thoroughly exploited by the Beckhoff
Control Panel. The CP7000 series of Control Panels is optimised
for use as a man-machine interface. Operating and display
elements create an independent unit, separated from the control
level. The Control Panel has a flat, elegant form, with a
large surface presented to the user, but a low depth. The
PC is protected in the control cabinet, yet its location is
easily accessible. An independent PC housing can be optimised
for fitting PC components. |

Beckhoff Control Panel
Functionality and esthetic design in aluminium: The Control
Panel housing is machined from an aluminium block. Aluminium
is a material with many advantages. It has low weight, high
strength, enormous resistance to environmental stresses, can
easily be machined and is entirely recyclable. All this can
be seen and felt in the Beckhoff Control Panel. |

The display is the basis.
High-quality TFT displays, with even illumination and long
service life, ensure that the key requirement is satisfied.
The Control Panel series offering six different display sizes:
6.5, 10, 12, 15, 18 and 20 inch. The background illumination
retains its nominal illuminating power over an operating
life of at least 25,000 hours, and is easily exchanged.
The Control Panel can be fitted with a touch pad, or with
a touch screen. |

What frame does an image need?
The carefully planned use of design elements gives the Control
Panel its reserved and elegant appearance. The open design
possibilities of a membrane keyboard are fully exploited here.
The robust keyboard ensures that the IP 65 protection class
is retained as if new, even after long use in a tough industrial
environment. Light emitting diodes are integrated into the
keys, while push-in labels mean that exchangeable key identification
can match the needs of the plant. |

The emergency stop at the Control Panel
Additional keys in the design of the Control Panel do make
it thicker, but permit the application-specific arrangement
of electromechanical keys and other components such as all
kinds of switch, magnetic card scanners or handwheels. External
housings can be attached to either side of the Control Panel.
The signal leads may be laid separately, or can be operated
via CP-Link. |
|
Assembly
The rear wall of the Control Panel offers a free surface for
a variety of assembly methods, such as with a mounting arm
system. |
|
CP-Link
Maximum flexibility for location of the Control Panel on the
equipment. The connection from the Control Panel to the PC
itself is made via CP Link, a transmission technology having
a data rate in the gigabit range. CP-Link implements transmission
segments up to 65 m on two coaxial cables. No additional power
supply is needed. The CP-Link interface is implemented as
an ISA bus plug-in card and is thus usable in any PC. The
PC is also equipped with a graphics card providing an LCD
interface. The PC ports for LC display, keyboard, COM ports
and floppy disk drive are converted by the CP-Link insert
card into a high-frequency serial signal and transmitted via
coaxial cable to the Control Panel. The CP-Link interface
in the Control Panel reconverts the serial signal for the
original PC ports, to which the components of the Control
Panel, such as keyboard, LC display, touch screen, touch pad
and floppy disk drive are connected, but at a 65 meters longer
distance than would ordinarily be possible. There is a CP-Link
channel for each direction of the communication between the
Control Panel and the PC. Two coaxial cables are laid for
this reason. |
|
Multi CP-Link
Up to three Control Panels can be connected to one PC. Each
Control Panel can be installed at a distance of up to 65 m
from the PC, which ensures maximum flexibility in locating
the Control Panel on the equipment. For each Control Panel,
one CP-Link plug-in card is installed in the PC. All displays
show the same image. All the displays connected to one PC
must have the same format. Data can be entered on the PC keyboard,
on the keyboard of one of the
Control Panels or on a standard keyboard connected to one
of the Control Panels or directly to the PC. |
